Designed to cater to the needs of a modern, well-travelled family that embraces a wide range of sports and games, The Stacked House stands as an architectural piece that harmonizes communal and private living areas while thoughtfully integrating spaces for diverse family recreational activities. The architectural approach of this house is characterized by the interlocking of volumes, creating a blend of smaller and larger masses. A key architectural design feature is the use of full-height screens that elegantly connect the external front façade to the entrance. This deliberate composition adds depth and visual interest to the house while ensuring the owners' privacy. It also offers a glimpse of the scale and grandeur of the multi-storey structure, with the connected staircase subtly revealed behind the screens.

Situated on a relatively steep sloping terrain, one of the primary challenges was incorporating the desired swimming pool and lawn into the architectural layout. Our team's solution involved cantilevering the swimming pool, transforming it into an infinity pool that serves as a captivating backdrop visible from the main entrance and driveway. By raising the pool, we created ample space beneath for a generously-sized lawn, providing an ideal setting for outdoor activities and relaxation in the Basement area.

By taking full advantage of the sloping terrain, the lower ground floor emerged as a spacious and secluded Basement, housing the majority of the common living spaces. This area serves as a tranquil retreat where the owners can engage in shared experiences with their friends and other family members while ensuring functionality and privacy.

The first floor serves as a seamless transition between the main communal space and the private living areas above. It also acts as an inviting breakout area for the adjacent infinity pool, creating a connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.Dedicated to bedrooms and more private activity areas, the upper levels are meticulously designed to reflect the personal preferences and individual interests of each family member. The placement of the bedrooms prioritizes privacy by facing away from the main road, while generous window openings provide unobstructed views and ample natural sunlight and ventilation that the back of site enjoys.

In essence, The Stacked House offers a solution to the family's desire for a layout that seamlessly blends private and recreational spaces within their home. Through the skillful arrangement and overlapping of different spaces, our design effortlessly integrates indoor and outdoor experiences. The boundaries between the interior and exterior blur, creating an enchanting environment that invites the inhabitants to engage with their surroundings.
